BOZEMAN, MT: The non-profit organization Yellowstone Voices is sponsoring an event in the Hager Auditorium at the Museum of the Rockies on the evening of Friday, November 1, 2024. Supporting partners of the event include Roam Free Nation, Gallatin Wildlife Association, and the Montana Wild Bison Restoration Coalition.
The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 5:30pm; event begins at 6:00pm.
“We welcome everyone to attend our Free Educational Event & Community Discussion, ‘The Future of Yellowstone’s Wild Bison'”, said Bonnie Lynn, Executive Director for Yellowstone Voices. “Yellowstone Voices is building a coalition to preserve, to protect, and to appreciate the wildlife and environmental resources in and around Yellowstone National Park, and to support access to and information about Yellowstone.”
At the event’s opening reception, guests can meet with and learn about the involved organizations while enjoying light refreshments. Jaedin Medicine Elk, Northern Cheyenne tribal member and cofounder of Roam Free Nation, will open the event with a prayer. Rick Wallen, Yellowstone’s former Senior Bison Biologist, will be the keynote speaker to explain the biological impacts of allowing more bison on a larger landscape. Other speakers will explore issues facing Yellowstone’s wild buffalo. Rochelle Salois, Confederated Salish & Kootenai tribal member, will speak about what is happening to the buffalo from a tribal perspective. Stephany Seay, cofounder of Roam Free Nation, will offer a video presentation about Yellowstone’s capture operations. There will also be ample Q&A opportunities and a community discussion session allowing audience participation featuring a panel of various experts and advocates.
“The general public needs to know the truth about what is happening to the last wild buffalo,” said Roam Free Nation cofounder, Stephany Seay. “Yellowstone is greenwashing it’s bloody management approach by manipulating their language as they continue to manipulate the buffalo.”
Roam Free Nation is a Native-led, Montana-based wild buffalo, wildlife, and wild lands advocacy group who speaks from and represents the perspective of wild nature. Their representatives have over fifty years of combined experience in the field, monitoring wild bison migration, documenting actions against them, and advocating on their behalf.
